Our mission is to provide the highest quality studio arts classes possible to support the needs and interests of our students and help them develop their abilities to think creatively, understand, and apply principles of visual communication, and solve complex problems in unique and amazing ways. Our students are given the opportunity to apply their personal experiences, including skills and techniques learned in other classes, as they engage in the artistic workflow.

Courses Offered

Starting with Fundamentals of Art, students explore the variety of materials and processes used by contemporary and historical artists. After completing Fundamentals of Art students can choose to continue in Intermediate Art and Studio Practice to focus on drawing, painting, printmaking and related media, or they can try something new. We also offer multiple levels of classes in ceramics and 3D design, photography, and computer graphics/interactive media.

Our most dedicated students are invited to join Parkville’s chapter of the National Art Honor Society. And we offer all three Advanced Placement courses in Studio Art: “Drawing,” “2-D Design,” and “3-D design” and carry a long tradition of delivering some of the best artists and portfolios to colleges and universities!
